Our client, a successful builder and developer in the Kingston area, is looking for a Construction Estimator and Procurement Specialist to join their growing team. The opportunity is for an estimator/procurement professional with experience in supporting construction contractors through the interpretation of blueprints and drawings to manage all aspects of construction planning, build estimation, labour and supply procurement. Effectively manage all estimation and procurement activities, through collaboration with superintendents and project managers.

Solicit quotes from suppliers and subcontractors while ensuring appropriate product selection; provide value engineering options and product substitutions to suit client needs.

Review bid requirements thoroughly and ensure estimation proposals, meet all legal requirements and financial objectives.

Collaborate and communicate with sub-contractors, clients, architects, and consultants to ensure the highest level of service is provided.

Maintain database of contract documents, bidding and costing data.

Perform account/financial analysis, investigate variances, discrepancies, identify root cause and recommend corrective action.

Technician or Technologist Diploma or relevant education.

5+ years’ experience in a construction estimating and procurement role.

Detailed understanding of construction practices, labour and procurement regulations.

Working knowledge of Buildertrend or equivalent.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.

Strong knowledge of building codes, construction products and practices and laws regulating building construction and procurement.

Contract Administration experience considered an asset.

A collaborative team player with good communication skills.

Ability to work effectively under pressure utilizing time management skills.
