Our client, Cygnet Aviation Academy LP, based in Kingston and launched in 2023, is an exciting and growing company that provides professional, safe, state-of-the-art flight training preparing First Officer ready candidates for Canadian airlines. Cygnet partners with CAE to deliver flight training and utilizes a fleet of Diamond Aircraft supported by advanced flight simulation trainings. Cygnet is a subsidiary of Chorus Aviation, a publicly traded company which also owns Jazz Aviation and Voyageur Airways.



Key Competencies:

Reporting to the President of Cygnet and working with Chorus’ corporate finance team, the Controller is a key senior leader at Cygnet, with oversight and responsibility for all financial and administrative functions including the establishment and maintenance of its internal control design and systems in support of Chorus’ NI 52-109 Certification.

Responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all accounting functions including financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.

Responsible to manage all requirements related to Cygnet’s external audit and in relation to regulatory requirements with a focus on specified audit reports related to tuition.

Responsible to manage revenue accounting related to student fees.

Responsible for regular reporting related to all capital spend including aircraft costs.



Education, Experience, and Competencies:

Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. Experience in other administrative areas and in small business is desirable.

A trusted advisor with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills and a desire to learn and grow professionally. The ability to work independently, multitask, and deliver timely results with high quality. Ability to provide support with financial requests and finance projects as needed.

Minimum of four years leadership experience related to financial planning, reporting and financial analysis including management of full budget and forecast cycles.

Experience with and knowledge of international finance reporting standards (IFRS) is essential.

Excellent excel skills required including, but not limited to, pivots tables and complex formulas.
