Our client, a well-established local Kingston firm, has an immediate need for an experienced bookkeeper for their expanding clientele. The successful candidate will post information to accounting journals/software and reconcile accounts to ensure their accuracy. Also, the ability to work independently on payrolls and government listings such as HST and WSIB. The average work week is 3 to 4 days a week.

Maintain up-to-date financial records and establish, maintain, and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems
Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, maintain general ledgers, and prepare financial statements
Oversee accounts receivable and complete all payroll functions including the issuing of checks and payments of invoices
Manage an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial and bookkeeping activities
Complete monthly reconciliations for all accounts (bank and brokerage accounts)
Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and impacts on the client organization’s books of account
Responsible for tax planning and compliance with Federal, Provincial and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.
5+ years of experience in managing construction and construction estimating role;
Post-secondary education in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Trades;
College Diploma in business, finance, or related field preferred
5+ years of experience in bookkeeping
Excellent computer skills using software such as Excel and Simply Accounting and/or QuickBooks
Good organizational, time management, and problem resolution skills
Accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines
