General Manager



The General Manager, reports to the Director of Corporate Operations/CEO and manages the efficient use of human, physical, and financial resources in the delivery of high-quality care for Residents in the facility within budgetary constraints and legislative requirements. The General Manager is ultimately responsible for Resident care. Providing operational leadership to all departments of the home and delivering a high level of medical, physical, and emotional care for Residents and an effective operating environment for staff.



We Are Looking For

An experienced management leader with a background in clinical nursing and a genuine understanding of, and commitment to, the clients being served, who is respectful, open to others, able to access support and guide the development of staff skills and knowledge, demonstrates a coaching approach, and is able to hold people to task by building their commitment to the organizational mission and values

Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in the management of retirement homes or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

A demonstrated ability to manage unanticipated events when they occur responding in a thoughtful, disciplined, collaborative, and proactive manner.

An operational knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. Retirement Homes Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, et cetera.)

Demonstrated Management skills, including problem-solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution

Experience in working with people from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated understanding of cultural awareness, sensitivity, and competency in culturally informed treatment modalities

High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability; sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills; a succinct and accurate communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
