Mechanical Designer

Our client, a local mid-sized expanding manufacturing company, has a great career opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Designer at its site in Kingston, Ontario. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new products and finding innovative solutions to address industry needs. An innovative, creative and passionate self-motivated individual with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as a strong independent contributor. Product development/prototyping experience. Significant CAD experience and ability to translate manufacturing experience into manufacturable designs.



Major Responsibilities

Develop new products according to corporate strategy and build standardization into existing products

Design, develop, and test new products

Collaborate with other departments to ensure product success

Conceive creative concepts in response to client needs; translating such concepts into visual formats

Assist with the development of project plans & project costing

Assist in the development and mentoring of junior designers

Education and Experience

Strong Teamwork/Relationship Building skills

Technical Diploma in Mechanical Design, Industrial Design, Tool & Die or equivalent considered an asset

5+ years experience with CAD software required, SolidWorks preferred

Experience with EPDM and DriveWorks is an asset

Manufacturing, Machining, and Assembly experience
